A DGFI officer and a Rohingya woman were killed by smugglers during an anti-drug operation in Konarpara area of Tumbru border in Ghumdhum union of Naikhongchari, Bandarban.
The Inter-Services Public Relations Department (ISPR) confirmed the death of the DGFI officer from a notice saying that RAB and DGFI jointly conducted this anti-drug operation on Monday night.
Meanwhile, one more RAB member named Sohel Barua was injured by drug smugglers. He was brought to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital at 10 pm, later, when his condition worsened, he was transferred to Dhaka for better treatment at 2 am.
Dil Mohammad a resident of Rohingya camp zero line confirmed the death of a Rohingya woman. He said that, the deceased Sajeda Begum was a resident of the Rohingya shelter camp located on the zero line at Konapara on the Tumbru Border.
Since the incident, the patrolling of law and enforcement forces has been intensified in the Tumbru border area. But the situation is calm.
At the meantime, the notice sent by ISPR said that, the deceased DGFI officer was the squadron leader of Bangladesh Air Force. It is also stated in the notice that he sacrificed himself for the country. It is said that the body of the deceased DGFI officer has been taken to Dhaka in a special helicopter till the latest news.
