The United States and its allies have imposed sanctions on Myanmar’s Junta government and the country’s energy sector for the first time.
On Tuesday, the second anniversary of the seizure of power, several new international sanctions came against the Junta government.
The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on the country’s Union Election Commission, mining companies, energy officials and former and current military officials.
The United States also imposed sanctions on officials of the “Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise” for the first time. Besides the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on the Junta government on the second anniversary of its seizure of power.
